Twitter Pushes New Tweet Button PDF Print E-mail

Last August 12, 2010, Twitter officially launched its very own Tweet Button, a feature that “lets you share links directly from the page you’re on. When you click on the Tweet Button, a Tweet box will appear—pre-populated with a shortened link that points to the item that you’re sharing.” This feature was previously made available only through third-party developer TweetMeme, the guys responsible for the famous “retweet” button. Twitter has announced that it has currently partnered with the said company, who is likewise in full support of the new feature and who “from here on out . . . will be pointing to the Twitter Tweet Button.”

Originally, users had to use bit.ly and other similar services to manually crop the link in order to maximize the 140-character limit. The advent of the Tweet Button now eradicates the need for this and makes tweeting more user-friendly for online publishers of all sizes, whether of commercial sites or personal blogs, so that they may share content and generate traffic easier. Aside from displaying the number of times a link has been tweeted, the particular Web site that offers the Tweet Button also offers suggestions on other accounts to subscribe to, making it virtually painless for netizens to follow favorite writers, journalists, and/or other Web sites. Since its launch, the Tweet Button has already found its way to major sites such as CNN.com, HuffingtonPost.com, TIME.com, USAToday.com, Wordpress.com, and Youtube.
