Tumblr Blogs

Writing is no easy job. It’s mostly a one-person job. We are our own researchers, editors, marketers, sometimes even our own agents and publishers. The good thing is, we aren’t alone. We have an entire community at the tip of our fingers. Tumblr is a blog website known to be home to various types of blogs from comic books, to gourmet meals, to random musings. Below are only five of the thousands of blogs specially made for writers.

1. How to Success (how2success.tumblr.com)

How to Success is a freestyle blog containing all sorts of things: writing advice, inspiration, ways to get out of a block, tips to improve and more. The blog is fairly new and has few content, however it’s still helpful, at the same time unique.

2. National Novel Writing Month (blog.nanowrimo.org)

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is celebrated every November. The organization’s official blog contains news, features, and articles from NaNoWriMo all over the world. Their Tumblr blog contains tips on creating characters, writing plots, world-building, and more. However, most of the content is posted around the time of the event, from October onwards.

3. Writing Career (writingcareer.tumblr.com)

Writing Career is mostly a help site for freelance writers. The blog contains calls for submissions of various literary collections, journals and more. Every post contains a brief description of the piece needed, as well as the amount. Content is also tagged per type of literature.

4. Go Book Yourself (gobookyourself.co)

Go Book Yourself is not a writer self-help blog, but a book recommendation blog. The recommendations come from other bookworms, based on books that are popular. The post are in a “If you like this, try this” format. The blog is updated constantly with a wide range of genres. The recommendations are also tagged with the author, title and genre for easy site navigation.

5. NaNoWriMo All Year (nanowrimoallyear.tumblr.com)

Unlike the one above, this blog is fanmade. It offers writing tips, inspiration, and prompts for novel writers not only in preparation of or during NaNoWriMo, but for the rest of the year as well. While the official blog contains mostly articles, this fan blog includes pictures, blurbs, posts from experienced NaNoWriMo writers, and anything that might induce inspiration. Moreover, posts are created year-round.
